Why do people lie for no reason?

My ex and I haven't talked in a year. He had cancer and didn't want me to deal with the pain of watching him go through treatment, so we broke up (or so was his excuse).

I moved on, and found a wonderful boyfriend about 3 months ago. All of a sudden, my ex comes back into my life, and I realize I still have a few tiny feelings for him. I told him right from the start about my boyfriend and how I care about him, and I'm not available. Last Wednesday (before Thanksgiving) my ex tells me he loves me more than a friend and wants to see me.

I go to leave my ex a comment on MySpace this morning asking about his Thanksgiving. Some girl has commented all over his page how much she loves him and they are in love together.

Why would he lie to me about that? Why still try and get with me? He lives in VA and Im in Chicago. This girl lives in WI.

He's trying to play you, your out of state and he wanted to see if he still had you or if he could still have you.

We all tell little lies, there is no rhyme or reason we just do it. Some just lie more then others, they feel they need to.

ok. i cant say why he really broke up with you but to just come back in your life and say he loves you and wants to try again even after you tell him you are seeing another is rude and disrespectful. not to mention arrogant, thoughtless and selfish. (i could keep going but you get the picture). he is either trying to make you his second girlfriend or trying to leave his girlfriend for you in the most heartless of ways. Girl you have a wonderful boyfriend now as much as you may have a litttle feeling for your ex remember what he has put you through and remember what you got its his loss to have given you away tell him honestly what you are thinking and feeling about him and his feelings but remember what a good thing you already have and if he has another girl saying i love you that should be a red sign not to get back into that drama he lost you dont make the descision to lose the new boyfriend you have now for a chance of being hurt all over agin really think about it and follow your heart but use your brain only you truelly know the whole story i wish you luck
